Software Development Manager
Blue Waters Petascale Project
Overview:
The National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has one Software Development Manager position available. This position manages the daily operations of the Blue Waters software development division and oversees the design, development, test, port, integration and maintenance of the Blue Waters software tools. This includes both new tools developed by NCSA and its partners, and existing and new tools developed by various companies and research groups. It includes responsibility for programming and code documentation of the tools developed for multiple platforms and requires ability to effectively communicate and work with external collaborators. In addition, this position will entail project and personnel management, manage risks related to Blue Waters software development and deployment and represent the Blue Waters Software initiatives by presenting at meetings and workshops.
Required Education, Training and Experience:
- BA/BS degree in computer science, engineering or related field required, advanced degree strongly preferred. Alternative degree fields will be considered/accepted if accompanied by equivalent experience (depending on nature and depth of experience as it relates to current and planned NCSA technologies)
- At least 3 years managing software development projects and personnel
- At least 7 years of software development/programming required
- Experience with a variety of applications and platforms
- Experience with high performance scientific and engineering software systems strongly preferred
- Demonstrated program/project leadership in software development
This is an academic professional position at NCSA and is a 12-month, 100%-time appointment with regular University benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience and start date will be as soon as possible after the close date of the search.
