Graduate Research Assistantship (summer 2008)
Innovative Systems Laboratory (ISL)
Overview:
The Innovative Systems Laboratory (ISL) at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) has a research assistant for the summer of 2008 to assist with the development and implementation of algorithms and applications on computational accelerators, such as those based on Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), the Cell Broadband Engine, and the Graphics Processing Units (GPUs).
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implementation of specific algorithms and applications on one or more of the advanced accelerator platforms.
- Writing documentation, collecting results for papers.
Required Skills:
- Good working knowledge of Linux
- Good working knowledge of C programming under Linux
- Ability to quickly learn programming for new architectures
- Excellent verbal and written skills
Desirable Skills:
- Prior experience with programming FPGAs, GPUs, or Cell processor
- CS 420, CS 437, CS 554, ECE 498AL
