Overview:

Responsibilities involve developing and maintaining NCSA's Cybereducation Web presence to ensure that it is prominent, informative, accessible, up-to-date, and current, both in news and in technological applications. The Webmaster will also maintain and upgrade any Web sites for designated partner projects. Duties involve content development, design, and other publications such as brochure and poster production design. To fully perform the duties, the student must understand the Cybereducation vision, mission, goals, and objectives. This position requires strong web programming, graphic design and editorial skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Webmaster responsible for all aspects of website development, maintenance and enhancement of Web pages, incorporating technological advancements as they occur and for maintaining consistency of design in accordance with appropriate NCSA and UIUC standards
  • The incumbent will provide on-site management and administration for all day-to-day operations to insure continued high visibility and access to the Web sites
  • Manage and update mailing lists, and create and maintain databases of Education resources. Monitor security alerts for all open source programs and apply patches and other security methods on a regular basis in conjunction with NCSA security requirements
  • Administer Wikis and Moodle collaborative environments
  • The incumbent will respond to customization requests (including PHP programming) in a timely fashion
  • Ensure that all sites and software meet and exceed federal accessibility guidelines

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of PHP programming, MySQL is a must. Java and Flash a plus.
  • Advanced programming skills in PHP, MySQL databases a plus, as well as skills in developing multimedia deployment of materials.
  • Knowledge of PC and Mac platforms and/or Linux systems.
  • Excellent command of English language
  • Excellent written skills

Position is for approximately 10-15 hours per week.
