Chautauqua 2000 in Ohio

Sign Up Now for June!

Capability computing, science portals, and computational and access grids are changing the way people communicate, learn, and conduct research and business. Take an opportunity this summer to learn more by attending the first of two Alliance Chautauquas, which will be held at OSC in Columbus, Ohio, on June 13, 14, and 15.

OSC and the Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) are co-hosting this Chautauqua. You can register for the Ohio Chautauqua online. The fee for the full session is $100.

The three-day event includes tutorials, a keynote by Alliance Alliance Strategic Advisor Larry Smarr, and sessions on a variety of topics including:

  • living on the Grid (Rick Stevens, Argonne National Laboratory)
  • deploying Grid technologies (panel discussion)
  • NSF Information Technology Research initiatives (Ruzena Bajczy, NSF CISE)
  • Real-time forecasts of water basin storm impacts (Keith Bedford, OSU)
  • CIC research: Viz Tutorial Project, Condor implementation, AGAVE Project (panel discussion)

You say you can't get to Ohio in June? You can also attend this Chautauqua from:

via the Access Grid (AG). The AG is an integrated environment that links people, resources, and services over high-speed networks. AG nodes are in place at Boston University, which was a 1999 Chautauqua site, and at the ACCESS-DC facility in suburban Washington.

Another Chautauqua is planned for the University of Kansas in August. The agenda for that event will be similar to the one at OSC.
