NLANR Announced Release of Networking Resource

Staff of the National Laborartory for Applied Network Research (NLANR) are pleased to announce the availability of the Beginner's Guide to Network-Distributed Resource Usage, an online document introducing concepts of high-speed networks and their use. The guide contains information on networks connections and performance, distributed computing methods and issues as well as offering examples and resources. Each chapter is a self-contained web page that can be easily printed and then compiled for a deskside volume.

The distributed applications support team, based on the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign campus, are responsible for the content of the guide. Other NLANR teams offered comments and suggestions. NLANR is funded by the National Science Foundation.

The distributed applications support team offers support for researchers working with high-performance network applications and assists in the development of distributed applications and tools. Networking assistance to campus network engineers, gigapop operators, and other high-performance networking professionals is provided by NLANR's Engineering Services staff. The Measurement and Operations Analysis team conducts network performance measurement and analysis studies.
