Editor's Note

"An editor is someone who separates the wheat from the chaff and then prints the chaff."
--Adlai Stevenson
The Stevenson Wit, 1966

This issue of data link marks the end of the second full year of the Alliance technical newsletter's reincarnated life. I hope that this resource, focusing on the technical information needs of Alliance and other high-performance and high-throughput users, proves an exception to Stevenson's comment about editors. data link strives to offer wheat, not chaff!

As the sole official staff member of this service, I try to discover information that data link's audience will find interesting and -- ideally -- useful. Our hit record seems to indicate that I am successful in locating on your behalf web-based resources to assist you in your work.

Your link suggestions would be very helpful in improving the utility of the newsletter. Please consider this your invitation to send me URLs for articles, white papers, tools and utilities, training and education opportunities, and meeting and conference announcements. data link, while good, can get even better with a greater flow of ideas from its readers.

My thanks to the members of the data link Advisory Board and especially to you, the reader, for your continued support of this endeavor.
