Dear readers:
Whether you believe a new millennium starts on January 1st in the year 2000 or the year 2001, there is
no denying the excitement that is building as we move closer to the new year.
But for the staff of data link (meaning me!), 1999 has been a significant year as well.
This issue of data link is the twelfth to be produced on time with
good, informative links for you to peruse. As a high-performance or high-throughput computational
researcher or as someone interested in computational research, I hope you have found the
more than one hundred hyperlinks to online information useful.
Unearthing these online resources takes time and
effort. I am fortunate to work with several terrific NCSA staff and
some active members of the data link Advisory Board
who help make each issue possible and valuable.
Any ideas or suggestions you have for improving data link and
making it more appropriate for your needs are welcome. I hope you will be in touch to express your
opinions and to offer information about your research and activities.
Best wishes for the new year and -- for some of you -- the new century!

data link editor and coordinator
