Samples of Well-Written Proposals (LRAC)

Peer-review board members thought that these were excellent examples of how an allocation request should be presented. Some things noted by the review board were:

  • The proposer summarized his/her research in context of the current state-of-the-art and outlined the computational algorithms and how these relate to the various subsections of his research.
  • The reviewers were provided sufficient information, but not overwhelmed by details.
  • Justification for the service unit request was clear and closely coupled to each of the computational experiments. As such, if the board needed to reduce the original request, the reduction could have been done on a rational basis with minimum disruption to the investigator.
  • A summary of previous support was included which clearly stated how the previous computational results have effected the latest service unit request.
