Reserved Scratch

RESERVED SCRATCH SPACE

A reservation based scratch filesystem named is available for users that
require more permanent scratch space than is available in the normal
scratch filesystems or more space than is available in their home
directory. This space is primarily intended to be used when the
use of regular scratch space together with the mass storage system would
prove to be impossible. This space also can be used as space to
supplement a user's home directory quota.

Files in this filesystem are not subject to purging. However, no backups
of the data are performed, so users should take care to save their files
to permanent storage as often as necessary.

To request space on this filesystem, send mail to help@ncsa.uiuc.edu and
indicate the amount of space needed and the duration of the need using
the form provided below. If you would please also indicate the reasons
that standard scratch space is insufficient for your needs.

The space may be removed and given to another user after your requested
duration has been exceeded.

A subdirectory within the reserved scratch filesystem will be created
for the user in the same way as in normal scratch.
