Version 4.0 of the IMSL Fortran and C libraries have been installed on modi4.

The documentation for this installation is in

Before using this software, users can access the libraries easily by 
sourcing the following file:

source /usr/apps/math/vni/imsl/CTT4.0/ctt/bin/cttsetup.csh

NAG ASLI release 6 has been installed on modi4. Please check out the new
version by typing:

source /usr/apps/math/nag19/nag.init

before using the software. Most older versions  of the libraries have been left 
available to the users so check which version you are using by looking first at
the nag.init file above.

Matlab 6, release 12.1 is now default on modi4. Invocation can be
done by typing "matlab" on the command line and setting the DISPLAY
variable appropriately.

Users can keep the following definitions in their .login file
if they use them:

setenv MATLABROOT /usr/local/apps/math/matlab/matlab6_r12
setenv MATLAB /usr/local/apps/math/matlab/matlab6_r12
setenv LD_LIBRARY64_PATH $MATLAB/extern/lib/sgi64:/usr/lib64:/usr/lib64/mips4

Any observations of this release can be sent to consult@ncsa.uiuc.edu.
Users who find problems in this release can also try out release 12, to
check if their programs work better with it (see below). 

Users who wish to use the release 12, can set the following variables:

setenv MATLABROOT /usr/local/apps/math/matlab/oldmatlab6_r12
setenv MATLAB /usr/local/apps/math/matlab/oldmatlab6_r12
setenv LD_LIBRARY64_PATH $MATLAB/extern/lib/sgi64:/usr/lib64:/usr/lib64/mips4

and can invoke release 12 by typing "matlab.old".

NOTE: Users who use modules in their .cshrc or .login files (such as "module 
load MIPSpro.7311" etc) should comment out *all* module commands. Matlab 6 
apparently does not operate correctly with the SGI module environment. Logging 
out after the modules are commented out and a subsequent re-login should make 
matlab6 work correctly for you. The vendor has been made aware of this problem.

PETSc (Portable, Extensible Toolkit for Scientific Computation) version 2.1.0 
from Argonne has been installed on NCSA's Origin systems.

To use PETSc, you must define

     setenv PETSC_DIR /usr/local/apps/math/petsc/petsc-2.1.0
     setenv PETSC_ARCH IRIX64

NAG Mark 19 has been installed on modi4 in

/usr/apps/math/nag19

Users are  encouraged to look at all the new and expanded libaries
especially in fl, fn, and np. A new SMP library is also
installed as well as IRIS Explorer and Axiom 2.2. For usage information see
