Brief Description:
MSC.Patran is an industry-standard finite element pre- and post-processor.
It is a full-featured modeling environment for almost any kind of
structural or thermal geometry. MSC.Patran provides a meshing facility
which facilitates the placement of loads and restraints. Finite element
models can be exported to many structural analysis codes including MSC.Marc,
MSC.Nastran, Abaqus, ANSYS and a host of other solvers, including its own
inherent linear solver.
MSC.Patran is available to all NCSA academic users on the following system:
- Xeon/Linux cluster (tun.ncsa.uiuc.edu) version 2005r2
Commercial use of MSC.Patran is governed by the NCSA Private
Sector Program. Please contact Seid Koric at skoric@ncsa.uiuc.edu
for more information.
Using MSC. Patran:
Just type patran. Your DISPLAY variable must be set to your local machine
and you must have xhost software like Exceed running on your local PC, if your are
on a linux/unix box you must first xhost + .
Patran is an interactive GUI based software. Running Patran interactively on tun's access nodes is not allowed.
You must first access a tun's compute node through bsub -Is -n2 -W[hour]:minute tcsh
Where -W[hour]:minute is a maximum wall clock access time to a tun's compute node.
