NCSA Kerberos 5 Binary Download

Download Restrictions:
  • You must be an NCSA user and have a valid NCSA account to authenticate with our secure server.
  • You must be coming from a machine in the U.S. This means a machine in the .EDU or .GOV domains, or from another domain that we have individually OK'ed.
  • You must be able to truthfully answer YES to the mandatory questions below.

Do you agree not to export Kerberos to the extent incorporated therein, in violation of the export control laws of the United States of America as implemented by the United States Department of State Office of Defense Trade Controls?

Please select the operating system for binaries to be downloaded.

If you don't see the Operating System you need, please contact kerberos@ncsa.uiuc.edu and we'll see what we can do to help. Note that our current kerberos binaries are not fully compatible with RedHat 9 or Fedora. In most cases, it is best to use the kerberos RPMs supplied by RedHat.

Distribution Type:
Distribution types are "Clients only" and "Clients and Application Servers". If you only need the Kerberos programs to connect to other hosts using Kerberos, then download the "Clients only" distribution. If you need the programs in order to setup a host to accept Kerberos connections, then you need to download the "Clients and Applications Servers" distribution.

Please note that there are no Application servers available for Windows, and Mac, there are only Client distributions.

You will be prompted for your NCSA AFS/Kerberos username and password. For HPC users, use your NCSA username and your NCSA UniTree (mass storage) password (this password is your Kerberos password). For NCSA staff, this is the same password you use for checking email or logging into NCSA's public systems. The link will be encrypted using SSL (secure socket layer) - your password will not go over the network in the clear.
