File Disclosure Process
If you are an NCSA user and you want to request access to files not owned
by yourself, whether it's because someone has left NCSA or passed away,
here are the steps you need to take.
Since NCSA is a part of the University of Illinios, NCSA has to abide by
the rules and guidelines the University sets. In the
Policy On Appropriate Use Of Computers And Network Systems
document, section 6.3, it states the process for requesting disclosure of
contents of messages and files. If you want to request access to files
you need to write up a request which contains:
- The files you are needing access to,
- who owns these files,
- and the reason for why you need access to the files.
This request needs to also be approved by your supervisor
or principal investigator. This then needs to be mailed to
allocations@ncsa.uiuc.edu. The Allocations group will then take the
needed steps to determine whether or not to grant access to those files.
