Password Expiration Policy
In following the policies of the University of Illinois, NCSA is requiring
users to change their passwords at least once a year.
Here is the
The University's policy on passwords.
NCSA will notify users via email that their passwords are going to expire
at 30, 14, 7, 3, and 1 days before it expires. Once a password has expired,
you can change it in the following ways.
If you happen to be on a machine that has kerberos installed then you
can run the kpasswd command to change your password. If there are problems
then you might need to have your username with NCSA's realm name:
> kpasswd username@NCSA.EDU
If you don't have access to kerberos binaries then the only way to get it
reset is to contact the helpdesk by mail, help@ncsa.uiuc.edu, or by
phone (217)244-0714. You can go here for
further instructions on changing your password.
Users who change their password more frequently than once a year should
never get notified.
